David G. Durkee, O.D., FAAO

Dr. David Durkee started Lowell Vision Center in 1981. He majored in Medical Technology at Michigan State University, then received his Doctor of Optometry from Ferris State University with High Distinction in 1981. Dr. Durkee served as President of both the West Michigan and Michigan Optometric Associations over his professional career. He is currently an Assistant Professor and Clinical Instructor for the Michigan College of Optometry. Dr. Durkee also serves as an optometric consultant for the State of Michigan Department of Corrections. In 1992 he was inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry after passing rigorous written and oral exams.

Dr. Durkee is very active in the Lowell community serving on the boards of the Lowell Lion's Club, Lowell Area Arts Council, and City of Lowell's Downtown Developement Authority. He and his wife Mary are proud to live and raise their four girls in such a wonderful community.
